In December 2024, the Bureau of Labor Statistics released its data on the most dangerous jobs in the U.S. and it was revealed that solid waste collection workers rose from 7th to 4th on the list. This is a disturbing trend. To address this problem and have a serious discussion about safety in the waste and recycling industry, Waste Advantage announces that they will be holding a FREE Virtual Safety Summit on March 20th from 1:00 – 3:30 ET.听
All solid waste employers鈥攊ncluding national companies, municipalities, major regional companies, and small haulers鈥攆ace similar safety challenges. However, more of the same is not okay. The goal of this Safety Summit is to go beyond best practices and provide actionable tools and information to reduce improper behavior that contribute to injuries, collisions, and fatalities. Attendees will hear from industry experts about improving safety culture, how to successfully implement technologies and tools that can improve safety performance, as well as addressing fires in facilties and post-collection safety issues.听
The Safety Summit will feature moderator David Biderman, President of Biderman Consulting, LLC and the former Executive Director and CEO of SWANA. A leader in the waste industry for more than 25 years, he has testified before numerous federal, state, and local agencies and councils about waste and recycling issues, policies, and trends. Biderman currently helps companies and local governments address safety and sustainability issues, supports advocacy objectives, and assists technology solutions providers grow their market share within the industry.听
鈥淚t is simply unacceptable that this great industry鈥檚 safety performance is declining,鈥 stated Biderman. 鈥淭here are a wide variety of safety hazards on the route and at disposal facilities. This Safety Summit will help both employers and employees to avoid collisions and injuries.鈥
鈥Waste Advantage is excited to hold this Safety Summit on March 20. Safety is the most important issue in the waste and recycling industry and it is imperative that we have relevant discussions on what can be done to address safety issues. We are proud to feature not only David Biderman, who has led the industry on safety for more than two decades, but also key experts from across the industry to talk about these issues that affect everyone. We are all working hard everyday to improve the industry鈥檚 placement on the list. By showcasing these dynamic speakers, attendees will come away with solutions they can take back to their organizations and begin a culture change. We look forward to this virtual event,鈥 said Angelina Ruiz, Publisher of 国产麻豆.
