Zonar recently achieved the milestone of fielding 300,000 telematics units with an implementation at Butler Machinery in Fargo, N.D. 鈥淭his marks a milestone in our company鈥檚 13-year history,鈥 said Mike McQuade, co-founder at Zonar. 鈥淥ur company is built on a foundation of innovation and customer service. This represents a culmination of innovation beginning with the patented EVIR system and more recently, the 2020 Android transportation tablet and Daimler Trucks North America鈥檚 Virtual Technician.鈥
Butler Machinery, a full-service dealer that provides equipment solutions and service, operates a fleet of 450 vehicles from 17 locations in Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota, including a variety of class 5-7 service trucks and Class 8 on-road trucks. It uses Zonar鈥檚 V3 telematics platform to monitor and track those vehicles. Butler鈥檚 drivers also use Zonar鈥檚 Electronic Vehicle Inspection Reporting (EVIR) to conduct their mandatory vehicle inspections. Kelly Klemisch, fleet manager for Butler Machinery, said 鈥淭he fact that Zonar has 300,000 activated telematics units is testament we made the right choice for our operation. In our neck of the woods, we have so much work that needs to be done. We鈥檝e found that Zonar has helped our technicians and location managers concentrate less on paper work and fleet issues and more on customer service.鈥
McQuade said Zonar鈥檚 success is a result of the compelling ROI and benefits experienced by our customers. 鈥淲e鈥檙e experiencing unprecedented growth,鈥 he said. 鈥淓ven though a short amount of time has passed since Butler Machinery took delivery of our 300,000th unit, the total number of activated Zonar telematics devices is well north of that mark.鈥 McQuade also attributes the company鈥檚 accelerated growth to partner agreements with companies including Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA). In 2011, DTNA introduced Detroit Connect and the Virtual Technician service, a factory-installed telematics solution with remote diagnosis capability. Virtual Technician captures vehicle operating data and alerts the fleet in real-time on the severity and the recommended course of action when a fault occurs. Expanding on this platform, Zonar recently released the Detroit Connect On-Board Tablet, an advanced Android based mobile tablet for driver productivity. In August, DTNA celebrated 100,000 trucks with Virtual Technician installed.鈥淭his is just the beginning,鈥 McQuade said. 鈥淲e founded our business on innovation and customer service and we remain committed to these core values. In the near future, this means new Android applications, sophisticated and actionable fuel analytics, open Android platforms, expansion of customer care options including phone, in-person, on-site and much, much more.鈥
