The聽Office of Sustainability’s聽annual move-in weekend cardboard聽recycling program introduces new students to campus聽recycling efforts. This year, volunteers helped students and parents聽recycle 13聽tons of cardboard during move-in weekend, highlighting the University’s commitment to sustainability.Cardboard and plastic wrap are two of the most common waste materials during move-in weekend.
Cardboard is also a major聽recyclable year-round, accounting for approximately 50% of the University’s single-stream聽recycling.WVU uses a single-stream聽recycling system, which means all聽recyclable materials鈥攕uch as cardboard, plastics, aluminum and steel cans, glass (brown, clear, and green), paper, and drink cartons鈥攃an be placed in the same bin. Recycling bins in offices, meeting rooms and hallways are labeled with guidelines on what can be聽recycled.
