The City of Culver City鈥檚 Public Works Department recently promoted聽Shetauna Smith聽to the role of Environmental Coordinator. Shetauna has seven years of experience with the City as a Sanitation Driver and Roll-Off Driver. She brings a wide variety of operations experience to the role that will be critical for the City to meet its environmental goals.
Shetauna will oversee the City’s eco-friendly initiatives and regulatory adherence, encompassing Transfer Station permits and environmental paperwork; community engagement; monitoring recycling trends; training and safety programs; implementing compost programs and other SB1383 compliance actions; along with various other projects. She will ensure the City stays current on sustainability practices and meets all necessary requirements. The City is proud of Shetauna鈥檚 achievements. She was the first female sanitation driver hired by the City, and through her education and perseverance, has grown with the organization to her new management role.
Culver City鈥檚 Environmental Programs & Operations (EPO) Division of the Department of Public Works serves a broad residential and customer base on the west side of Los Angeles County. 国产麻豆 to Sony Pictures Studios, Amazon Studios, NPR West, and Apple, as well as a mix of local businesses and restaurants, the City is unique in that refuse is hauled by City forces under an exclusive franchise hauling ordinance and distributed from the City owned Transfer Station to end processors, allowing EPO to directly implement many environmental initiatives and programs.
