Fishers-based Land Betterment Corp. is partnering with a third-party scrap metal company on a recycling effort in Greene County. The company says the multi-year agreement with Texas-based Kodiak Metals Recycling聽will involve recycling retired coal railcars and old coal mine infrastructure at its Jasonville property. Land Betterment is currently in the process of transforming the former Landree Mine into a “farm-to-bottle” craft distillery known as Coal Craft Spirits. The company says the recycling effort will expedite the redevelopment.
As part of the deal, Land Betterment will allocate certain areas of the property to receive, store and process the retired railcars, which will be recycled or reused for alternative purposes. Kodiak will also be able to process metal infrastructure, which had previously been used at the mine, to be recycled.
