The Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County thanks the residents of the county for helping to make it the state鈥檚 top recycler for the second year in a row. In 2023, Palm Beach County achieved an overall 84 percent recycling rate, as calculated by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection(FDEP). That鈥檚 a four-point increase from 2022 when the county achieved an FDEP calculated 80 percent recycling rate, exceeding the state鈥檚 75 percent recycling goal.

Per FDEP calculations, Palm Beach County recycled approximately 3.5M tons of the 4.2M tons of municipal solid waste collected in 2023. This calculation includes both traditional recycling, construction and demolition recycling, vegetation and waste-to-energy recycling credits. 鈥淧alm Beach County鈥檚 recycling success is possible because of all who recognize the value of recycling and are dedicated to recycling right every day,鈥 said Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County Executive Director Dan Pellowitz. 鈥淏ecause of county residents recycling right, Palm Beach County is proud to have had a thriving dual-stream recycling program and a robust construction and demolition recycling effort since the late 1980s.鈥

Palm Beach County residents, visitors and businesses have many options for recycling right:

  • Use the blue and yellow recycling bins, cans or carts;
  • Take excess or oversized recyclable items to one of seven Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County 国产麻豆 Chemical & Recycling Centers; or
  • Drop off paper (fiber) materials at one of more than 250 community drop-off locations throughout the county.

In 2010, the Florida legislature set a 75 percent state recycling goal by the year 2020.
