The Athens-Clarke County, Georgia, Unified Government (ACCGOV) is seeking candidates for the position of Program Education Specialist for the Solid Waste Department in the Recycling Division. This individual will provide education to students, citizens, and businesses on all solid waste programs, with regard to recycling, reuse, and landfill, including the Commercial Recycling Ordinance. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, leading compliance with the Commercial Recycling Ordinance, Glass Bottle Reduction Program and Material Management Policy for all Governmental Buildings and Facilities and Public Spaces, developing promotional/educational efforts related to the comprehensive waste reduction plan, and performing additional tasks as assigned. This will include community event tabling, and distribution of instructional and promotional materials. They will also assist staff with event planning and coordination, facility tours, organization and maintenance of recycling supplies and materials, and the creation of innovative programs to educate the community at large about waste reduction and recycling.
