Far West Fibers, Inc., Oregon鈥檚 largest recycling processor and marketer for the state鈥檚 residents and businesses,听is now听operating under the new name of Far West Recycling. The new name, which is effective immediately, more accurately reflects the company鈥檚 expansion into recyclables other than paper. The new name has no impact on Far West鈥檚 team, partnerships or operations. 鈥淔or more than 30 years, we have helped keep the neighborhoods we serve beautiful by meeting all of their recycling needs,鈥 said Keith Ristau, president and CEO of Far West Recycling. 鈥淯p until the early 2000s, paper accounted for almost all of the recyclables we processed, but today it represents just over half of our volume. We鈥檝e diversified into many different kinds of commodities and recyclables, from metals to Styrofoam, plastics, glass and electronics, and we want our name to accurately reflect this evolution.鈥

With new, modern plants in Portland, Beaverton and Hillsboro, Far West Recycling processes 185,000 tons of recyclables and brokers more than 60,000 tons of recyclables each year, making Far West the largest in Oregon. 鈥淲hile our name and signage are changing, our team remains the same, as does our commitment to keeping Oregon at the forefront of sustainability through our progressive recycling operations,鈥 Ristau added. 鈥淲e鈥檙e proud of the last three decades and look forward to many more.鈥
