The City of Douglasville celebrated the groundbreaking ceremony for its new state-of-the-art recycling center on Friday, October 25th. The event, held at the Public Services Cedar Mountain Facility, was attended by city staff, local leaders, and consultants.

The new recycling center is set to enhance Douglasville鈥檚 recycling capabilities, enabling more efficient processing of recyclable materials and reducing landfill waste. This investment reflects the city鈥檚 dedication to environmental stewardship and a greener future. The building will have an area for each recyclable to be sorted. These will include glass, electronics, cardboard, and more. Residents can drive up to the center during operating hours and distribute their recyclables into the assigned bins. Construction on the facility will take approximately 16-18 months.

鈥淭oday marks a pivotal moment for Douglasville as we invest in our future and the environment,鈥 said Mayor Rochelle Robinson. This recycling center will not only improve our waste management system but also serve as a model for other communities striving for sustainability.鈥

Featuring advanced technology for sorting and processing materials, the facility aims to capture a higher percentage of recyclables and divert them from landfills. It will also include educational resources to raise community awareness about recycling and environmental practices.
