The City of Boise is launching the Curb It Awards to recognize local businesses that are reducing their waste to contribute to a cleaner, more sustainable community. The awards program encourages best practices in waste management, such as recycling, composting, employee training, and the use of reusable materials. By honoring businesses’ commitment to sustainability, the city hopes to inspire others in the community to follow suit, while helping residents identify and support sustainable businesses.
“The Curb It Awards are a catalyst for change within our business community,” says Gabe Brenner, program coordinator. “By highlighting and celebrating businesses that prioritize waste reduction, we aim to inspire others to adopt sustainable practices that significantly reduce Boise’s waste, leading to a cleaner, greener city for all.”
Businesses interested in participating can apply by completing the application form available on the city’s website. As part of the application process, businesses can request on-site assistance from Curb It staff to help them identify waste reduction opportunities.
