The city of Bozeman will be launching a solid waste organics management program this year. The city plans to partner with Happy Trash Can to offer a year-round weekly collection service for residential compost.

Director of Transportation and Engineering for the city of Bozeman, Nick Ross, says the goal of the program is to reduce landfill tonnage and in doing so reduce associated environmental impacts such as the production of methane.

“None of the other private haulers in town yet offer organic collection services. We also were the first in the city to do a recycling program, and now we have both of our other private haulers also doing recycling as well.,鈥 said Ross. 鈥淪o, we like to think that will be a good precedent to set for overall collection of organics.”
