One of the Midwest鈥檚 largest recycling and solid waste management forums is coming this fall to downtown Davenport, Iowa.聽The 2016 Iowa Recycling and Solid Waste Management Conference will be held Oct. 3-5 at the RiverCenter. During the conference, decision-makers in the fields of recycling, sustainability and waste management will tour noteworthy facilities, participate in educational sessions, enjoy networking, and explore the Quad-Cities.

The conference is planned and hosted by the Iowa Recycling Association (IRA) and the Iowa Society of Solid Waste Operations (ISOSWO), the foremost organizations representing recycling and solid waste professionals in Iowa. Organizers anticipate about 300 registrants and exhibitors, generating an approximate economic impact of $180,000 for the Quad-Cities community.

The event kicks off Monday, Oct. 3, with tours focused on technology and innovation, recycling and reuse, operations and safety, and sustainability. Tours of a dozen locations will be provided, including the newly renovated Scott Area Recycling Center, John Deere Demonstration Site, Midwest Center for Public Safety Training, Antique Archaeology (home base for the History Channel鈥檚 American Pickers), Quad Cities Food Hub, and Nahant Marsh.

On Tuesday, keynote speaker Chad Pregracke, founder of Living Lands & Waters and 2013 CNN Hero of the Year, will kick off two days of education sessions. Sessions will focus on topics such as site safety, recycling markets, best practices for engaging residents in recycling, and strategic planning and organizational change.

Great River Hall at the RiverCenter will be open to all those interested in learning about developments in the recycling, sustainability and solid waste industries. All are welcome to visit the exhibit hall from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, regardless of whether they have registered as a conference guest. Tuesday night, a pub-and-grub crawl will be held in downtown Davenport. The 2016 Iowa Recycling & Solid Waste Management Conference will conclude at noon Wednesday, Oct. 5.
